The FOR.TREE NURSERY project, financed by NBFC and carried out by CNR-ISAFOM with the collaboration of Fondazione AlberItalia ETS, stems from the awareness that forests are fundamental for our future. Global programs, European Directives, and national, regional, and local Strategies strongly call for the creation of new trees, woodlands, and forests, the care of new plantings, and the sustainable management of existing forests.

To proactively address the challenges posed by the new reforestation and afforestation programs, it is urgent to relaunch the Italian forest nursery sector and promote a new Governance that can foster collaboration between the various regional institutions and integration between the public and private sectors.

The main objective of the FOR.TREE NURSERY project is the relaunch and enhancement of the Italian forest nursery supply chain. It aims to define a clear roadmap to achieve fundamental strategic objectives, ensuring that the forest nursery sector is capable of responding to future challenges and actively contributing to environmental protection. This project represents a strategic investment in Italy’s green future, promoting research, training, and dissemination for a stronger, more innovative, and sustainable forest nursery supply chain, in line with the directives and objectives of the NBFC, the PNRR, and NextGenerationEU.

The FOR.TREE NURSERY project has drafted an electronic Report that offers an updated overview of the Italian forest nursery sector. The Report includes a Roadmap 2025-2030 for the relaunch of the supply chain.
