During the 14th National Convention of the Italian Association of Garden Centers (Aicg), Sgaravatti City Garden received the Gardenia-Aicg Prize as the best garden center of 2025.

The award, which annually highlights the most significant industry experiences, was presented to Sabina Ferrari, marketing manager of Sgaravatti Group, by Emanuela Rosa-Clot, director of Gardenia, and Paolo Roagna, president of Aicg.

Sgaravatti City Garden in Cagliari was inaugurated last February 10 and is the third garden center of the Sgaravatti group based in Sardinia.

Sgaravatti is a historic “brand” for the green market, having started selling plants and flowers in 1820: before the unification of Italy and when neither the train (1839), the telegraph (1845), nor the Post Office (1862) existed. These three inventions allowed the company to launch a mail-order sales business in 1864, which made it known throughout Italy. Since the 1950s, the Sgaravatti Group has been based in Sardinia and operates with three divisions dedicated to both the design and creation of gardens and direct sales. Production activities are mainly developed in Capoterra, while the garden centers are located in Arzachena near Porto Cervo, Capoterra (CA), and the newest addition in the city of Cagliari.

The new City Garden stands on the site of a former Siete Fuentes factory, a well-known beverage producer in Sardinia. It is a very unique location—unusually bright for an industrial site—but above all featuring a single truss roof without pillars, which allows for great design freedom inside. It has a covered exhibition area of 2,000 m², complemented by a 300 m² external shade house.
