Starting from the innovative experience of Piacenza’s Public Green Space Management Plan, through the economic valuation of benefits generated by urban greenery and the insights of large and small municipalities: how to invest in public green spaces to build more sustainable and liveable cities.

1. Understanding the City’s Green Heritage to Manage It

Presentation of Piacenza’s Public Green Space Management Plan and its innovative elements designed to both preserve and renew the city’s green heritage, focusing on climate change resilience and ecosystem service provision.

2. The Value of Greenery in the City

Presentation of the Valore Verde model for quantifying and monetizing ecosystem services generated by urban greenery, applied to a case study within Piacenza’s Public Green Space Management Plan. A social cost-benefit analysis evaluates the redevelopment project of the tree-lined avenue in Via Stradella, Piacenza.

Panel discussion with municipal representatives who chose greenery as the foundation for urban planning. From green space inventories and Urban Green & Nature Plans to regional, national, and European funding opportunities: exploring the tools and experiences of those investing in greenery for higher quality of life.
