One of the most innovative elements of Parma’s new General Urban Plan (PUG_PR050) is the centrality of nature as an urban infrastructure. “Expansive Nature” is the vision within the Plan that reshapes the relationship between the city and its natural surrounding territory. It promotes the expansion of green spaces, ecological corridors, and wetlands into the urban fabric—transforming nature from a residual element into an active city infrastructure that enhances quality of life, biodiversity, and environmental resilience.
